The person behind it
Cartographer, tile-maker, and someone who still draws maps on his days off. ?? all copy on this page is draft — Gigio to approve or rewrite
I draw maps for tabletop games. Conan and Star Trek for Modiphius, Infinity and Aristeia! for Corvus Belli, work for Spidermind Games and Alchemy Interactive, and a lot of worlds you’ve never heard of, built by people at their own kitchen tables.
I still make maps in my own time, for no reason at all. That hasn’t changed in years. The part I actually chase is the moment somebody opens the file and it’s exactly the place they had in their head.
Every job is different, and that’s the part I like. Do what the client asked for, properly. Then go past it. Then get it back to them faster than they expected.
I work out of Puerto Rico. I’ve delivered through hurricanes and hardware crashes to hit deadlines — communication and reliability are the whole point.
The long version
?? Gigio to fill — where he studied, what he studied, how he got from there to cartography. Degrees, art school, self-taught, or all three.
The Modiphius work began with a sample map from one of their campaigns. He improved it unasked and sent it back. They called him because of the quality — and never really stopped.
?? Gigio to fill — as much or as little as he wants to share. People hire people, and this is the section that makes him a person rather than a supplier.
Photoshop for the map itself, SketchUp for structure, and Unity for 3D and cinematic lighting. Animated and dynamically-lit VTT maps are the next thing he’s learning.
